In my early years, I did not see the value of education.
When I was going on thirteen, I started to run my own shop. From then on, Iworked hard to become a successful businessman.
One day I realized the importance of the English language in the businessworld and started taking night classes.
I was able to communicate well with foreign customers after two years ofEnglish study. But I started to feel that, in the long run, having a limitedknowledge of English was not enough to make my business successful. I knew thatonly a well- rounded education could guarantee my success in the future.
When I was eighteen, I had to make a decision to continue doing business orgo back to school. There was one obstacle keeping me from getting an advancededucation. I had only completed elementary school up to that point. I then wentback to senior high school after four months of tutoring in different subjects.Being at school for the first time after so many years was somewhat embarrassingbecause my classmates were at least two or three years younger than I. Iconcluded that my age did not matter. The important thing was getting intocollege.
I took the College Entrance Exams. Although my math exam result was onlyone point below the required score. I never gave up hope. The following year, Itook it again and received the highest score in my city. Achieving such anamazing result gave me encouragement and courage necessary to continue myeducation to the next step.
I am now in my second year of college and know that it is never too late tolearn. My passion for studying and improving myself will never come to a halt aslong as I continue to live.
“Live and Learn.” is the motto I have adopted. I believe with an educationI will succeed. So, if you are wondering whether education is important, don’thesitate a moment to step up and seize the opportunity.

Good morning, everyone! This week, we are going to learn a new topic——theAims of Education. Differ from Whitehea d ’s idea; I think the aim of educationis to help people form a lifelong learning consciousness. In my eyes, educationis not an end, but a means to an end. In other words, we do not educate childrenonly for teaching them knowledge but to help them form a lifelong learningconsciousness.
We can see that, as education appeared, the aim of it has always been a hottopic to human beings, especially the great thinkers. Their ideas towards theaim of education reflect the educational changes in human society. That is tosay the aim of education is not static . In ancient Greek, Aristotle thoughtthat “Education must aim at the development of the full potentialities of eachman”. Later, it developed into the idea of training young people to be well-educated gentlemen or citizens in Henry Newman’s work The Idea of aUniversity.
As the society develops, the aim of education has taken in new meanings andimplications-----to educate and train people to be all-roundly cultivatedpersons. To achieve this goal, one has to spend his whole life to learn.However, in the usual case people just spend some years on study in schools oruniversities. After they leave school, they seldom pick up books. Now thegovernment is advocating building a “learning society”. It provides peoplechances to do some continuous learning in other schools besides the formal ones,like night schools.
In fact, the idea that education should be throughout a person’s life hasbeen existing for a long time. In China, it can be traced further back to “theAnalects of Confucius”. Confucius said, “If some years were added to my life, Iwould give fifty to the study of the Yi, and then I might come be without greatfaults”. This indicates his idea of lifelong learning. Besides, some famouswestern philosophers also held the idea that individual education should be acontinuous process. For example, the great thinker Aristotle claimed that“Education is the best provision for the journey to old age”. These claims aboveshow that those great educators take education as a long term task.
Unfortunately, the time that people spend in schools or universities islimited, so is the knowledge they can learn in the formal schooling. As aresult, it is significant for teacher to promote learner autonomy and guidestudents to form a lifelong learning consciousness in school. But usually peopledo not take it serious until they leave school. I would like to take my eldercousin as an example.
My elder cousin went to a professional school after he graduated from highschool. One year later, he became a workman in a factory. He was satisfied withthe job and stopped learning. Yet as time goes by, now he feels that the task isbeginning to exceed his ability. This is not a single case happen to those“graduates”.
Nowadays, more and more people realize this problem and start to take somemeasures to solve it. In order to get a higher degree, people take some courseson the Internet or go to night schools to do their further study. Such being thecase, why not help people build up their consciousness of lifelong learning whenthey are still in school? Thus they can do some preparation and try their bestto create opportunities for further study even after they leave school.
To conclude, the aim of education ought to educate people to considereducation as a continuous process and form this consciousness in school so thatpeople can receive any kind of education in any time or anywhere to adapt to thedevelopment of society.

Hello everyone. Today I will talk about education. Children's education.Everyone has experienced during childhood or become parents. so today you willfeeling of my word perhaps. I will more want to talk about Chinese children’seducation. This is only my private opinion.
Children under Chinese education is pitiable. They are living in a spoiledworld .Most of parents allow their children to do everything they want to dowhether it's accurate or not ,or buy children whatever they desire. Evenchildren do the wrong thing there is no education.
For example: some parents condone children in urine anywhere. Parentsshould tell their children where the toilet, rather than the children do the waythey like. As I have seen parents allow their children to pass water on thefloor at home .Parents just do services instead of giving correct guidance tochildren.
I wonder that under such education,whether the parents think about howchildren will be like in the future. Although parents offer children the bestliving conditions and material base, but they don`t foster children how to thinkindependently, or do correct judgment. I really want to know do these parentsalso got such education when they were young.
We often see some youth made foolish or illegal activities in the media. Ibelieve that they were not born with these activities. Of course ,there aresocial reasons ,but more or main impact is the bad education from parents.
In Chinese families, I have seen a lot of this phenomenon, when a child whojust fell down on the ground, just stand instability, and without any injuries,the whole people of family put down everything, rushed to the baby and holdbaby up ,and ask baby ached or not, or rub legs and arms, or give toys to makebaby happy. I would like to know, if you fell down then get such a goodtreatment, will you climb up? Why the creativity, independence of children is sobad? Perhaps the reason is, children can get whatever they want, parents willinstead of children to do all things.
I love my country, I hope next generation will be better. I also believeall the parents love their children. However the responsibility of parents isnot just love their children, I think the most important things are educationand guidance. Family education is very important to decide
what kind of person will children be in the future .I want to say toparents, please think about what you have done to children today, decide howthey will be in the future? Do you want to ruin his/her life ?
There is a movie gave me emotionally, called "The Road", which I thought ofmy father, and also thought of my children in future.
